Thread: Ubuntu does not recognize my iPod :(

i started facing problem today: whenever plug in ipod (nano 3g) not show in nautilus or under devices in /media folder.

here's gets weird, though ipod doesn't show anywhere on system, listed, , can browsed , played in enna media center!!

here's setup: ubuntu lucid (fresh install), kernel 2.6.32-23-generic, gnome 2.30.0, updated latest updates canonical.

think should mention ipod recognized no problems on other xp machine.

appreciated.

edit: discovered ipod can seen virtualbox , can opened vm!

ok first things first, i've found if ipod screen locked (i'm assuming have touch) won't recognized or mounted. screen has unlocked before it'll mount. playing/loading music you'll need install packages shall list below. following packages can installed going applications menu -> ubuntu software center.

libipoddevice0
libipoddevice-dev
libgpod4-nogtk
gtkpod

other packages related use of ipod's can found typing in "ipod" (without quotes ) in ubuntu software center search. hope helps out!
