How to set up a new site - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

i hope have correct forum. running joomla 1.5 , new user of software.

when installed software followed steps in "learn joomla 1.5 fast" saurabh bhide. able create new site per instructions.

now, have site have on disk, running on internt. have copy of files , back-up copy of database straight server copied "joomlabets/templates". owner wants move site, whch cms driven software may or not joomla. guess joomla or close. have created database using "phpmyadmin" , imported data. can see tables , queries. think pages should visible, not. have defined site name in joomla, , under server tab in global configuration, changed database name db created. of course gives me error, have change original database set-up when installed joomla, "database_for_joomla".

my question how can access new db, , other things need make pages visible. site not listed in template manager, maybe problem. should it, , how go doing that?

just confused @ point , ask help.

i dont know if way best way, how use it:

1. install fresh joomla 1.5 on new server (do not need manually create database. regular installation)

2. copy old database, , import new database (via phpmyadmin, overwrite existing tables)

3. copy files old ftp account new one, not copy configuration.php file. configuration.php includes serversettings needed.
