Thread: Network manager 'Auto Ethernet' Wired Connection Will Not Connect

i've got shiny new dell laptop running dell factory install of ubuntu 9.10. wireless networking works champ. wired networking, not much.

i've got network manager handling both connections -- or ill. both wired , wireless configured through network manager. wireless works champ, after being edited static ip. plug in network cable, can't anywhere. ping says "unknown host" put in. i've got lights , settings i'd expect working connection, no working connection. , soo unplug wire, wireless connection takes on again , fine. ideas?
