Thread: How do I format the drive & re-install Ubuntu?
hello! i'm semi-new ubuntu- do know way around terminal , general system procedures.
here's situation need with:
- an upgrade %100 pwnd system: performed upgrade lucid karmic , lost keyboard input , sound etc etc etc.
- i made karmic boot-run/install cd, & usb startup stick.
- i backed up important information on flashdrives etc.
- at point in time i have 2 partitions
1 old user account & info on it, , other new (re)installed karmic partition.
my question is:what procedure for:
a) formatting drive,
b) not keeping 2 partitions, ,
c) re-installing ubuntu (karmic) onto it?
have gparted ( can't see how use format ), , i have no clue how format drive either within gui or @ command-line.
how format & re-install ubuntu?
what sequence or steps?
can re-install intuitively i'm concerned there may ubuntu tricks don't know about! also- 2 partition thing cause complications formatting??
my question how format drive within system.

when reinstall ubuntu cs, there options reformatting entire drive, or manually specifying how want partitions laid out. answer question?
