[GSoC 2009] Enhanced frontend editing - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support
hi everyone!
my name ankit ( new here ) , working on enhanced frontend editor joomla! summer ( part of summer of code ).
abstract
the project allow in-place editing module, menu-item , article titles, editing of module & menu-item parameters , articles in modal window , drag , drop placement of modules frontend.
details
1. in-place editing, whenever user click on title, replaced text-field user able either save or cancel changes.
2. editing of module & menu-item parameters , articles, edit icon provided next each of titles. once user clicks on them, modal window popup respective manager. modal window, mean div on content of webpage.
3. drag & drop placement of modules. new position saved @ backend.
implementation
now, still thinking how going implement above set of features getting myself familiar joomla! code.
as part of project, first tackling edit-in-place titles.
first off, creating component handle requests frontend edit titles. menu items, 'class' attribute contains 'id' menu item, guess easier handle request , make changes particular instance of menu item.
however, modules, module id not present anywhere in output.
i want easy test extension want minimize ( if possible, nullify ) modifications might have make joomla code.
i need module id output work, @ present, can think of 2 alternatives:
1. use module chrome: either telling user create or modify his/her template's module chrome.
2. using similar &tp=1 ( not sure )
nothing in above implementation finalized yet still @ thinking stage. appreciate suggestions , ideas on how implement in better fashion.
i getting blog solely project posting on progress. update post when happens.

godspeed! front end editing of modules dream of mine, , 1 more thing take off checklist feature drupal allows joomla doesn't support.
