Thread: This is how to transfer Evolution to Sylpheed

i using evolution 2.28.3, , using sylpheed 3.0.2. how copied email (inbox , sent messages) evolution sylpheed:

1. in evolution, in left pane, click on inbox folder (right below “on computer”)
2. in command bar, click “folder” “select messages”
3. in command bar, click “file” “save message”
4. type folder name (“inbox”), browse proper place want save it, , hit “save” button
5. repeat steps 1-4 sent folder
6. in sylpheed, in left pane, select folder want messages go (inbox)
7. in command bar, click “file” “import mail data”
8. source, click “select” , find inbox file created evolution
9. destination folder, click “select” , select folder want emails go
10. click ok, ok, repeat steps 6-10 sent folder.

bit disappointed evolution did not present easy way export messages. maybe there "official" way it, didn't find it. , since others in same boat me, thought i'd present procedure.

primary reason switched evolution sylpheed because switched ubuntu lubuntu. both programs available both operating systems, ubuntu comes evolution standard, , lubuntu uses sylpheed default. research tells me sylpheed runs faster, didn't notice -- both plenty fast on fast computer. on slower computer might make difference.

may switch evolution someday, since way used synchronize microsoft outlook windows mobile phone pda. in "old days" when used windows. linux guy, still need figure out how set evolution synchronize emails, contacts, calendar, tasks, spreadsheets, word documents, notes, , favorite downloaded websites offline browsing. sounds lot of work me, why haven't done yet.
