Thread: Starting up Ventrilo Server?
i have downloaded (linux version). folder should put in?? matter?
new bash dont know how start ventrilo server up.
navigated folder server in , did ./ventrilo_srv , ./ventrilo_srv -d , both come "no such file or directory". do???????
you know, had exact same issue ventrilo 4 months ago - file existed, use 'vi' command , see it's contents, 'hexdump' show it, , permissions set correctly (i tried thousand configurations, suid), whenever tried execute file give me "file not found" error, if renamed , moved around. tried extracting archive on different machines different programs , moving binary onto server. tried running several different users, including root. tried executing binary scripts - absolutely nothing worked. makes no sense @ all... file right there, bash threw error message.... thought going crazy. ventrilo worked fine on old server (not same version though); difference can think of new server x86_64 , old 1 32-bit; yours? run 'uname -m' , see output is. maybe there strange incompatibility? have no idea.
gave because didn't ever use anyway - if need ventrilo-like functionality, mumble open-source , supposedly works better anyway. has clients ported major operating systems. i'd go that. run:... , read man pages , set config files like.code:sudo apt-get install mumble-server
