Thread: Cannot unmount/eject or save to USB Drive.

i installed ubuntu 10.04 (desktop) , enjoying immensely. however, couldn't usb drives appear, , ubuntu seemed ignore them. after installing "automatically mount , unmount usb mass storage devices," usb drives appear, cannot save them, unmount them, or eject them. ejection option not appear drive, unmounting leads error: "umount: /media/usb0 not in fstab (and not root)." when moving/creating files to/in usb drive, following error: "error opening file 'insert file here': permission denied." missing downloads, or system messed up?

change permissions on usb drive you.

login rick , label on usb drive hp. ( use own login name , label)

code:
sudo chown -r rick:rick /media/hp
now rick (me has permissions on usb or media.

after make label in disk utility or gparted on usb drive when unmounted. can run make directory it. (one time thing)

code:
sudo mkdir /media/hp
now mount @ /media/hp

mounting on insert try going configuration editor go apps go nautilus preferences , see if auto_mount checked.

anywhich way have full read , write permissions on drive.
