Split the content of story
hi all,
i learning indesign, interesting... extracting needed data idml file.
my question is, have single story used 2 text frames, these 2 textframes available in 2 different spreads. want find out how many characters or words or lines present in each textframe.
we can determine word , character count using following steps in indesign
- place insertion point in text frame view counts entire thread of frames (the story), or select text view counts selected text.
- choose window > info display info panel.
is there property find out number of characters or words or lines of single textframe in idml.
can me solve issue. in advance.
there important difference: talking text frames, text saved in idml stories. these can (and typically do) run multiple text frames. there seems not 1-to-1 relation between idml , actual text frames.
if text in separate frames not threaded (i.e., each frame contains 1 single story), comes down counting words (or characters, or lines) per story. can see can done quite (on 1 level) because each story gets saved separately in idml file set. not-so-simply issue contains loads of formatting tags, , these should ignored or removed before counting.
