FAT32 Linux File System Question!!! - Raspberry Pi Forums

i have question regarding sd card raspberry pi.
background:
have done forum search , read lot of posts not answer question. have created sd card debian wheezy hard float image. did on windows box following directions on raspberry pi site. simple! followed instructions windows. used win32diskimager. anyhow, want make 6 more copies of custom image source code on , deploy onto other pi hardware. so, did same thing, make image based backup using win32diskimager , and restore image onto new sd card. works fine, when perform simple file copy 1 sd card fails.
question:
why cant simple file copy 1 sd card if both fat32, both raspberry pi , windows server recognize file system. why have use win32diskimager , create image , restore image onto new sd card? fat32 fat32 regardless of os. should technically able perform simple file copy 1 sd card between 2 sd cards have same fat32 file system, cant. have perform image base backup of source sd card , restore of image file onto destination sd card. trying understand logic here.

there several reasons, main reason sd card contains second non-fat32 partition windows can't see (an ext4 partition)

if pi see partition, straight copy past still fail windows doesn't handle linux style file linking.

more that, if entire pi partition fat32 , linking issue wasn't issue *still* fail if copied/pasted it. can see in attempting copy 1 windows install second hard drive. oses aren't designed copied (admittedly though, windows deliberately designed way).

taking image of sd card, however, you're able around such limitations preserves little ins , outs of file system.
