Thread: System time wrong when booting

hi,

in every fifth boot or computer thinks it's 2007 , therefore faced sort of shell instead of gnome (paraphrasing: "the time not agree last time filesystem mounted" or that). fixed running fsck , pressing ctrl+d. want rid of problem, how?

uname -a
linux alpha-laptop 2.6.31-22-generic #60-ubuntu smp thu may 27 02:41:03 utc 2010 x86_64 gnu/linux
i on laptop, btw.

cheers

generally caused cmos battery needing replaced.

cheap , easy do. open machine, , easy find. looks large round silver disk. pull out, find out , replace same thing.

downside cmos need reconfigured.

otherwise, not sure causing problem. if newer machine, may want try manufacturers website , see if there reporting, or call them , find out if there else needs done.

don't let them tell os, not cause problem.
