Thread: (EE) No devices detected. Nvidia/graphics problem

i'm running 64-bit lucid on mobile i3 core processor 4 gb of ram , nvidia geforce 310m 512mb graphics card, , integrated intel graphics chip i'm not sure of specs for. had compiz , working perfectly, , installed nvidia driver ubuntu software center, , graphics broken.

computer couldn't boot, had edit grub , delete 'quiet splash' , replace 'nomodeset'. computer boot, in low graphics mode, compiz disabled , whatnot. went system --> administration --> hardware drivers , checked had activated, , said current nvidia 1 active, deactivated , removed it, , 185 1 software center. no drivers installed on computer, can boot, still in low graphics mode. went hardware drivers, , checked available drivers, found nvidia accelerated graphics driver, , activated it, , rebooted. resulted in splash screen being broken again deactivated again, , i'm stuck. reason computer gives booting in low graphics mode "(ee) no devices detected".

willing use either graphics card on linux because i'm not playing games, can tell me how straighten out graphics?

first can download nvidia driver from:
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122606
