Thread: Monitor Screen on ubuntu 10.04 goes blank frequently

i have new ubuntu 10.04 install, third have done
recently. on particular install (unlike others) screen goes
unexpectedly blank , motion restores screen. acting like
screen saver blank screen option set.
following settings:
screen saver off
lock screen option off
power saving functions can find off.
power saving functions in bios off

awful problem! wife uses computer
, hates this. if set computer for
client problem deal breaker.

fyi:
compaq presario desktop.
programmer 10 years experience in linux, redhat, slackware
ubuntu , kubuntu. familiar command line.

please let me know how disable or correct feature.

have ideas of how might escalate support, please let me
know.

i'm having same problem fresh 10.04 lts 32-bit install on ibm netvista 8301-41u. have screensaver , power saver options off in ubuntu, , have disabled power saving in bios. ran ubuntu 9 on machine , did not have problem.

note: in situation, appears power management thing (not screen blanking thing), since monitor goes standby. didn't have problem in ubuntu 9, , have tested monitor win7 , external on macbook pro , *not* go dark os'es don't believe it's problem monitor itself.
