welcome to coldfusion. it's fun, extensions language brought coldfusion 8 , 9. advice is: yes, exam.
i can think of @ least 3 reasons. first, learning keeps knowledge up-to-date. secondly, else being equal, adobe certification position above next candidate has none , asks prospective employer take word it. thirdly, boost self-confidence savvy coldfusion developer. after all, if adobe says can cut mustard, who's argue that?
how
study hours?
i'd 2 hours day everyday, 6 months. remember, this is more study time 6 hours/day 2 months!
it takes 1 woman 9 months produce baby, can't go on to take 2 women half time. believe in acquiring knowledge sticks, rather cramming.
go adobe site , download exam objectives. contains 40 bulleted requirements. estimate beginner need 8 hours per requirement, spread across 4 daily study periods
cf8 or cf9?
start cf8. leave cf9 later, when have more experience.
my chances beginner?
depends on number of hours put in. in position when started coldfusion mx6.1. took me 6 months, studying way i've explained, advanced certification.
still giving 'advanced' , non advanced diplomas?
yes. if score 84% or lower, normal certificate. if score 85% or higher 2 certificates, normal 1 , advanced.
so, go monique! there's play for! luck.
