Strategy for migrating an html site to Joomla! - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

hello,

i trying migrate old , poorly designed website joomla! , need piece of advice.

the old site has different html pages dumped in root directory. put little bit of order in different pages , sections of website, new joomla site have more structured url hierarchy.

the problem facing substantial amount of traffic old site coming natural search engines results , of course don't want lose traffic.

i thinking adding root directory of new joomla site set of html files same file names old pages redirects new equivalent pages in joomla.

do think strategy not loosing natural search traffic?
is there better way this?

let me know

cheers

no, imho using html files not best method.
you better use .htaccess rewrite rules (rewrite old .html files new equivalent pages in joomla).
