Thread: Cloning Boot partition and Grub, Media Server IBMA50

hi folks,

have seen lot of threads on how backup root partition assuming current
/sda target files.

have existing 20gb hd use os , want upgrade newer faster 20gb hd have sitting around.

have enclosure drive , tried rsync root directory new hard drive. keep documents , pertitent files on other parititions, excluded /proc , /lost+found. unmounted other partitions avoid accidentitly modifying them.

think worked, of course need copy grub new boot partition.
don't know how confirm location of external-drive/new-boot-partition
in grub syntax.

clarification can offer,
wbg

boot off live cd, not mount drives, then:

code:
dd if=dev/old-drive-whatever of=/dev/new-drive
