rf transmitter over usb

hey, i'm sort of new @ please bear me. basically, have 1 of these: http://www.sparkfun.com/products/10535 , it's fine , dandy controlling arduino. but, i'd control usb.

would kind point me resource(s) teach me this? i've got no problem writing  usb driver it, i'm having hard time understanding how usb works necessarily, , harder time finding literature on matter.

i suppose alternative use micro-controller interfaces usb drive transmitter.

i sincerely appreciate provided.
