Thread: How to better install Ubuntu Server with Partitions


hi, i'm starting linux. i've installed rhe5, , told better sepparate system files in different partitions

/
swap
/var
/opt

, on... /home

i've seen in solaris , in other unix. yesterday installed ubuntu 8.04 (64 bits version) in dell pe1950 had no problems @ all, os decided how installed. how can define sizes of root, swap, var , on???

recommend me them? in machine 4 gigabytes, , 146 gbytes (raid1) disk space?



possible have ssh server installed during installation, can access machine remotely?

way, use work windows server, boss decided time me learn unix (he has been solaris tech 2 decades).

in advance advice...

no ideas? no way?
