CS2 - missing plugins, toolbars

i use cs2 few times year create catalogs , brochures work - far being knowledgable.  today's attempt createt new document led interesting discoveries.  toolbars seem missing, number of plugins.  upon opening older documents (that created), plugins missing , find myself unable manipulate them.  drop-down menu appears have fewer options before.  have thoughts might going on?  re-load software except disks mia.  appreciated.
