How to Warp text correctly?

this ongoing problem me , looking help.

 

so, have text in illustrator want envelope warp on. when apply effect text becomes distorted. have attached simple example of talking about. top straight text converted outlines, bottom 1 after applying warp it.notice several of letters severely distorted.

 

what doing incorrectly?

i use 1 of options found under effect>warp , tweak the

settings there. doesn't doing really

requires envelope distort.
