combining keyboard and mouse - Raspberry Pi Forums
hi,
i'm pretty happy right -- tried out pi , managed going. itt leave me questions.
had trouble keyboard -- had mixed letters. got working, i'm not quite sure of issue.
ended doing 2 things
1. setting english (uk) extended winkeys.
2. unplugged keyboard , ran straight in. worked ok
-- worked ok when put keyboard on usb hub.
leaves me question. want do, need combine keyboard , mouse. i'm using unpowered hub, , it's working now, wondered if there better alternative.
so, others combine kb/mouse via hub, or use else?
also, bringing power in through other usb port --didn't seem cause problems, changing micro usb. know if bringing power straight in through usb can cause problems?
thanks,.
hj

bringing power in trough usb problem on rev. 1 pi's.
had polyfuses in usb power lines couldn't handle current needed pi running.
1 other thing bypasses main polyfuse on board. give advantage of polyfuse have voltage loss of 0.1 - 0.15v. micro usb cables hav thin wires , high resistance , can cause voltage loss. if combine both losses, can reach 4.85v limit consider safe stable operation.
loose functionallity of 1 of usb ports if power that.
people use 1 of keyboard , other 1 mouse. working that, don't need usb hub. possible way using ssh client putty , controlling pi on network. use rs component recommended supply adapter power pi's. has cable fixed adapter , therefore uses thicker wires in cable. it's rated 1.2 amps , not expensive.
