Updating templates problem
i finding when change on template, , asks me if want update files use template, although clicking yes , dreamweaver reports it's updated files use template, "done" button greyed out can't click it, (i can click "close") , none of files being updated. frustrating i'm having change files manually. new dreamweaver user feeling way around , i'm wondering if fault software or if i'm neglecting something? please ... i'm frustrated!!
here 7 common mistakes result in changes not propagating
from template child -
1. rename templates folder
2. move templates folder other folder level in site other
than root level
3. move template out of templates folder.
4. make changes editable region of template (which not
propagate)
5. assume template changes can uploaded server without
uploading changed local files
6. corrupt site cache link between template , child page
is broken
7, improperly create child pages opening template,
adding page specific content, , resaving template *.html
extension rather *.dwt extension. (you can tell if case
by looking @ code on child page - if see <!--
templatebegineditable... have done)
the 6th problem can repaired using site | advanced > recreate site
cache, , 6 others can fixed not doing them. have
done of those?
