Thread: working wireless devices
i see lots of problems wireless. here experience. pc, install airlink101 super-g pci card. laptop either airlink101 model awll3026 usb (zydas chip) or awlc4030 or 4130 super-g card (not g-card!!). pc work either usb device noted above or awlh4030 or 4130 super-g pci card. have atheros chips work natively, without drivers, ubuntu , indeed practically linux distros. took me years come this. sure lots or other cards work these work sure. can buy them off airlink101 website or used off ebay! these solve if not ubuntu wirless problems.
there large net page wireless devices known work ubuntu. if people check that, suggested many times in forum, of wireless posts eliminated. remember biggest problem wireless not ubuntu, rather manufacturers not releasing linux drivers , not making driver info open source well. leaves lot of devices without native driver, though lot of excellent people have done lot of work , made drivers more of these devices. there "restricted" drivers, meaning either not open source or perhaps not free, can activated. while there disagree. ndiswrapper still valuable tool in allows users wireless adapter there no linux driver able use windows drivers in linux device working.
yes, wireless can troubling new user, , while i'm not 1 "not fault", in instance indeed isn't ubuntu's fault. checking page compatibility recommended considering purchasing either wireless adapter or computer built-in wireless adapter when intend run ubuntu/linux on hardware.
of time lacking driver, , there ways in linux lot of drivers loaded. lot of progress has been made in restricted drivers, , lot of adapters can made work using ndiswrapper.
glad found solution yours, , posting it.
