Arduino to Product

hi,

assume make cool gadget using arduino , have wants invest money start company manufactures , sells these gadgets.

from other people's past experience, stick arduino? final product nicely packaged version of arduino prototype? or there reasons moving other microcontroller platform commercial product?

thanks
david

it depends upon whether or not want final product reprogrammable users (which pretty cool feature!) if stick arduino , add usb port final product becomes "hackable" (reprogrammable) , gives product different character compared in "sealed box".

moving different microcontroller platform doesn't prevent this, of course, sticking arduino ensures lots of people know how reprogram , have tools so. make pic-reprogrammable product, nxp-reprogrammable product, etc. have different development environments , libraries.

if not aiming reprogrammability, choose least expensive microcontroller final project (that still powerful enough job), not going atmel processor (as in arduino).
