Thread: Wavy screen on new install

just installed ubuntu via wubi (i know, know, i'm trying out) on w7 machine. asus oem, aoc monitor. intel hd integrated graphics, connected via vga. new linux in general.

running @ 1920x1080 , 60 hz (only available refresh rate option when booted in both windows , ubuntu), screen seems "vibrate". when lower res, appears there's mess of wavy lines around everything.

...that's odd. went go take screenshots of it, , effect doesn't appear in screenshot. tried disabling kms (though i'm not if that's applicable) command "echo options i915 modeset=0 > /etc/modprobe.d/i915-kms.conf" , "permission denied".

output attempting configure xorg "sudo xorg -configure:

fatal server error:
server active display 0
if server no longer running, remove /tmp/.x0-lock
, start again.

please consult the x.org foundation support
@ http://wiki.x.org
help.

ddxsiggiveup: closing log

aside, effect not occur when booting windows.

thoughts on how can resolve issue? i'm starting quite headache.
