How to construct a complex batch process for Acrobat Pro
greetings.
i’ve been given task outside scope of abilities. hoping can direct me resources can use complete request.
i have been asked work out easy-to-use batch process acrobat pro (we use version 9). not routinely use acrobat pro, familiar web technologies , comfortable modifying javascript (but not building script scratch). batch process users no scripting ability , little experience acrobat , distributed number of users in department.
here condition:
a directory exists contains number of ms word, ms excel , ms publisher files. these files need converted pdf files. conversion process needs automated possible. basically, fire acrobat, point directory , let “walk through” directory converting , saving files automatically.
as see it, @ simplest, acrobat pro, once fired up, needs to:
1) automatically open , convert each file pdf (without prompting user input).
2) leave original (word, excel, publisher) file intact
3) automatically save (new) pdf file directory (again, without prompting user input)
there 1 other thing have been asked build process. each file needs renamed (based on either original name, date or piece of metadata in file , made "web ready", no spaces in name.)
again, needs “just happen” once user starts process. process continues until either finishes files in directory, or encounters problem , stops.
i’d have suggestions books or documentation available (or other resources) describe how build batch process in acrobat. have done searches information , have cme few pieces of documentation. hoping others might know of additional resources.
thank you,
tpk
