Thread: HP pavilion dv1000 brightness issue

i make screen go darker..because has 100% brightness , getting me blind....fn keys works switch 100% 99% brigthness , not noticeable
have weeks trying help..on irc or forums..
gnome brightness applet doesnt work
tried kde battery applet , didnt either..


laptop
i686 intel(r) pentium(r) m processor 1.60ghz genuineintel gnu/linux

function fn plus f7 , f8 works..
gnome brightness applet doesn't

example: laptop @ 100% brightness
, able put @ 30% if want.
gnome brightness applet or program
because key bindings tweak 5 or 15% not super noticeable changes made brightness using key bindings


have tried different methods :

* using xbacklight did not work: no display has backlight capabilities ...

* gnome brightness aplet shows red sign , not working

* /proc/acpi/video - > not existent, modprobed video module -> /proc/acpi/video there empty

* nvclock -f -s not working, complaining not compatible etc

* xrandr method --output ... --set backlight ... (not working)
dont know if tried these methods because im new..

can follow in gtalk, irc, msn wherever want.

im 99% can fixed..but lots of people give helping me


haven't tried setpci method
