Thread: Ubuntu won't shut down

i've started using new ubuntu desktop edition 10.04 , have problem. when try shut down system wont it. logo ubuntu , 5 dots stays there forewer.

can do?

i guess nothing cause there allready many ppl same issue. kernel related. of course cuold lucky , case different solution problem.

try use suspend or hibernate , write if not shut down, meaning preapre not power off.

if so, in same situation me , others. , long don't change kernel wont see fix that.

edit: used newer kernel 2.6.33 or newer avoid this. can try using mainline kernel mainline kernels miss patches ureadahead support , apparmor. if not needed can use them. if more expert can compile new kernel patches (i never found patches apparmor though).
