Audition 2 startup problem

hello everyone,

 

i've been user of audition since got cs2 production bundle, , have grown alot. i'm video/visual effects creator, i'm not in audio program everyday, when have audio work, go audition. got soundbooth when upgraded cs3, have kept audition v2 installed, since soundbooth isn't multitrack editor.

 

anyway, hadn't used audition few months, when tried open it, keeps failing. splash screen comes up, goes through start things, building workspace, initializing ui, stuff, , interface appears. it's there split second before vanishes, closed. program won't stay open.

 

i pulled out cs2 installation disks , did repair install, still having problem. thought maybe try trashing preferences, navigated audition folder on hard drive. double click open it, , window closes. extremely bizarre!

 

does have idea possibly be? i'm thinking maybe confliction program? closing folder window automatically bizarre, , makes me think virus. purposely not keep workstation connected internet reason, don't want viruses.

 

i'm on winxp machine, service pack 3, , have cs3 production suite, although, said, keep audition 2.0 cs2 bundle installed. also, tried using adobe tech morning, on half hour, , getting nowhere.

initially i'd try reinstating preferences files, think - , aren't in audition folder @ all. rather me go through whole process, best thing read audiomasters faq it, here.

 

whilst it's worth backing them up, first thing delete relevant in folder, audition can re-create vanilla ones. program may start then... yes, it's bit weird not being able open audition folder - dunno offhand cause @ all, except odd happening os.
