Thread: Can Someone Explain Logic Behind ath5k Limiting Wireless Rate?

as per linux wireless page when using foss ath5k driver:
you'll see immediate rate drop 1m, because of how handle rate control. should able keep @ least @ 11m set manually:
code:
iwconfig wlan%d rate 11m
can please try explain me why in world want use driver if limits things 11m, whereas madwifi driver (ath_pci) can give 54m?

i'm trying understand logic here...

my suposition in instance of high-traffic local network...this way no 1 user hogs bandwidth. brother of friend of mine did paper , noticed people begin claim network breaking if , if network they're using begins running slower has in past.

again, suposition. i'm studying computer engineering @ pitt , typically frown upon such limitations , build better hardware , code better drivers
