Instant Ajax response?

i'm pretty cf , ajax i'm struggling on idea of browser page getting or post action page , having currenty page instantly load without action user on page.

 

i know how load ajax user interaction on viewed page mean google's twitter results scrolling down no action user directly viewed page.

 

is matter of logging get/post action database , using javascript/ajax setinterval reload data every few seconds , read database until finds something?

your concept seems ok.  is there part having difficulty with?
