Thread: Kernel Team collaboration, request for comments


hi, everyone. i'm following on conversation uds members of ubuntu kernel team. 1 of team members (and canonical employee), jeremy foshee, leading effort make wiki information kernel date clearer , more complete ever. make welcoming forums members use way prevent spread of incorrect information while making quality information accessible our community.

starting major overhaul of information , invited participate giving jeremy feedback on how make useful possible.

here questions discussion going, please don't feel need limit comment(s) these. think helpful in making best kernel information available forum members welcome. say, however, not possible kernel devs spend time on forums answering questions , on. amazing , want help, have lot of demands on time already. however, jeremy has volunteered available whenever on irc ask him kernel related question, have direct line him when questions come not answered in upcoming new wiki documentation. alone wonderful thing should quite thankful , can contact information soon. so, on discussion starter questions. feel free bring own or contribute thoughts on of these.

-what sort of information find forum members seeking regards kernel issues?

-what think people know don't know how ask?

can precise (e.g. "what expect happen btrfs , kernel in maverick development cycle?") or general (e.g. "is there ever reason ubuntu user compile own kernel? when/why? or if not, why not?") like.

i've met jeremy , rest of team, , think collaborative effort benefit both them , , hope guys/gals think too.
