Thread: how to generate a 3 year sasl certificate?

i'm brand new @ setting mail & i've never generated cert in linux system. i'm following instructions @ flurdy.com & i've reached point i'm supposed this:

cd /etc/postfix
openssl req -new -outform pem \
-out postfix.cert -newkey rsa:2048 -nodes
-keyout postfix.key -keyform pem -days 999 -x509

postfix.cert & postfix.key variables (i think). i've tried typing in example, replacing 'variables', if that's are, own text, error [variable] unrecognized option.

knows how this, give me shout, please!

thanks,

--cz

never mind -- apparently, supposed run command after second line in quoted text, fill in fields, repeat 1st & 3rd lines, skipping 2nd. of course, if wants post on give rest of newbies clarification proper procedure, i'm sure appreciated.

cheers,

--cz
