Thread: giving up, need recommendations
okay have been battling 2 networking problems 2 days now. installed 10.04 on wife's computer , trial live cd , quick search here knew getting usb dongle (a netgear wg111t , yes sucked) pain if possible never occurred me wired ethernet connection wouldn't work either.
mean have been using ubuntu years , have installed on several machines myself , friends , although have battled many issue wireless connections in older laptops have never once had serious issues hardwired connections. long story short, give up.
question should buy correct situation?
looks cheapest option buy pci ethernet card easier use wireless in application. looked @ sticky wireless hardware , although comprehensive seems little dated. can recommend usb wifi dongle works straight out of box on 10.04, preferably brand , model number?
alternately if go pci ethernet route there recommendations or issues might facing there?
know kinda of noob question , seem sort of lazy after 2 days of dealing ndiswrapper , hours reading forums advice on wired problem done.
i had same problem wireless, unlike gave sooner. solution type "linux wireless" ebay , buy wasn't coming hong kong. have purchased 2 wireless devices way around £10 (one usb , 1 pci) , both work out of box.
usb model have ralink gwf-3a33.
