Thread: bonded eth0(wire)+eth1(wireless) connection problems

(newbie disclaimer here)

have fresh install (10.04 lts) of latest ubuntu install on laptop, have followed directions here , here to try , set network bonding. have more or less succeeded, more on 'less' side.

problem having getting wireless connect/lease. have set dhcp static ip's bit bleh when travel laptop.

followed directions here setting up, used /etc/network/interfaces here (didn't touch loopback section)

at point, rebooted measure.

since had removed network manager, used guide @ this site try , configure wireless connection (eth1).

sudo iwconfig

confirms eht1 ieee 802.11bg

sudo iwlist eth1 scanning

scans , shows several ap, including 1 want connect to: arkviordwaywest

sudo iwconfig eth1 essid arkviordwaywest

returns no errors

shows eth1 being associated arkviordway, ap's mac address, link quality, noise levels etc etc

sudo dhclient eth1

works.. sometimes. nearest can tell, works when ethernet cable unplugged.

sudo dhclient eht0 / sudo dhclient bond0 both work obtain lease wired connection, not wirelss.

suspicions either wireless (eth1) somehow not bonding correctly, or more likely, fact not trying connect both interfaces same router. hardline goes router, plugged rooftop antenna connecting arkviordwaywest. wifi card however, want connect directly providers ap, not router.

provider caps service @ 2 mbps , quite honestly, has horrible connection quality. (anywhere 7%-14% packet loss pingtest.net) allow simultaneous connections @ 2mbps each. hope bond couple connections on primary computer, , little better speed , fault tolerance.

, yes, love different provider, best in area. centurytel dsl maxes out @ 1.5mbps. secom advertises 6mbps site survey revealed 1.3mbps, maybe 1.5+ if trimmed tree, hugesnet.. lol.. $100 month 2mbps 500mb daily cap? i've asked around , don't there cable tv provider area.

which sounds need, access point open ap, put in place of wpa sections?
