Performance question: Footage vs. Layered images

hello,

i’m working numerous time-remap comps, ranging between 5 40 layers. (comprised of .psd layerd files)

i’ve noticed after effects slowing down import more comps final.

i’m wondering if converting these psd layers continuous footage improve performance.

as example, if have 40, 640x480 staggered still images, 200 pixel area alpha channeled out, vs. 40, 640x480 frames of continuous footage of same image area alpha channel.  would 1 perform faster?

i have 60 of such comps in project.

any ideas?

thanks

jeff

the more stuff have in comp, more time render take,

and timeremap cpu intensive.

but have take account file access too. possible continuous access multiple files slows down hdd point it's becoming noticeable in ae.

i try converting file sequences rendered footage see if notice difference.
