Copy Joomla site from localhost to another localhost: Help - Joomla! Forum - community, help and support

guys newbie joomla 1.5 , appreciate kind help.

i started developing joomla site @ localhost on laptop (a). want copy (files, articles, components, database etc.) computer (b) resume working localhost.

i tried 2 ways:

1) created database backup , imported phpmyadmin in b. copied folder mysite , pasted iin c://xampp/htdocs of b. when tried access site using local host [http://localhost/mysite] got error : 'couldnt connect database'.

2) installed joomlapack on a. made backup of work. buti not sure how can migrate backed file local host in b. anyway when tried unzipping backup file rendered joomlapack gave error of corrupt files.

i worried may have redo whole site manually may take weeks. distressing thought!!!

can suggest easy solutions problems facing. plzzzzzzzzzzz....

bonjour,

in method 1, make sure database (db) values in configuration.php appropriate new b location :) if db in b imported fine, without errors, part ok; have make sure, the db user, db name, host , password set in configuration.php of b installation. also, values tmp , log paths should appropriate b location. 1) method correct way sort of thing; time exact way :)

oh yeah ... 1 other thing ... xampp is installed , running on b when try site ? :)

cheers!
lyle
