Thread: Can a single installation of Ubuntu running on multiple computers?
i have 2.5" 500gb hdd, , plan on using videos/music/pictures. put 20gb partition on ubuntu, while ubuntu won't primary operating system, used whenever wanted transport files, , hard drive have operating system access files. installation on different desktops/laptop of different hardware, question is:
there big driver issues moving ubuntu other computers computer installed on?
, if there issues, how able make when boot off of hard drive, boot ubuntu live cd instead of os? believe work if full installation wouldn't portable.
have plenty of experience computers, , bit ubuntu , few other flavors of linux, i'm wondering answers these questions before try out, , method should use.
i think so. situation kind of yours. had 2.5 laying around bought enclosure planning things up. got thinking since job keeps me out of country 2 weeks @ time nice have drive loaded os. how stumbled on ubuntu , linux in general. put 2 partitions on external. 1 ntfs , other ext4. reset boot order on laptop bios. out external drive hooked boots straight vista. external hooked gives me grub menu. no hassles , redundancy. can access music , pics on ntfs partition while running ubuntu.
checked see if external drive load on desktop , did. kind of surprised me since 9.4 on external drive , have been running 10.4 on desktop. when loaded 10.4 on desktop had alternate install because not auto configure dual asus 5770's have in it. far has worked out pretty well.
hope helps out some.
