Thread: "Another user is controlling your desktop"

chaps,

1 has me worried.

i'm using lappie, , have (literally, just) had message in top right hand corner of screen saying "another user controlling desktop" - sort of message shows when user remote desktops machine.

snag that, while machine set allow remote access without giving permission, there no-one else on either of other 2 machines @ moment. (only 1 of them on.)

there no change desktop - no movements of mouse or that, , turned off "allow remote access" immediately, has left me concerned has compromised machine.

checked wireless router , there no-one else logged in via wireless system. don't know how else check user logs on router, find out.

should worried? can such message appear randomly? possible have had system compromised? other machine turned on @ moment desktop machine, , both laptop using , desktop behind firewalled netgear dg834gt router.

putting simply, happened , how find out?

oli.

i'd @ admin>view system logs go bottom , examine messages there. if rogue bit of code between machines, may see further clues. on setup (4xmachines behind firewall) same - allow signon without passwords, cannot see how system unless client outside router on internet did deed. imply have port 5900 open on router suggested default people using vnc remote-control desktop. check router see if either port 5900 or port 22 open ?

thx
