Thread: Can't try out Ubuntu from Live CD. Nvidia?

want try ubuntu , booting iso cd burned. purple screen hangs on red/white dots animation. error msg. "the installer has encountered unrecoverable error. desktop session begin can investigate problem or try installing again"

black screen, can't in desktop session. tried rebooting , hitting keyboard when boot screen showed keyboard icon. nothing happened.

here system info:

mainboard : abit an-m2hd(mcp68)
chipset : nvidia geforce 7050 pv
processor : amd athlon x2 2400 @ 2300 mhz
physical memory : 2048 mb (2 x 1024 ddr2-sdram )
video card : nvidia geforce 7050 pv / nvidia nforce 630a


easy workarounds? wanted give ubuntu tryout, if takes huge amount of fiddling, not worth until new system. assume may have nvidia boards. thanks, rmb.

i'm still not used new menu layout in 10.04 might miss bit, around similar options , adjust.

when boot , first splash image appears, hit key. should show main menu.
hit esc , should show boot line. @ end of line add nomodeset. press ctrl+x boot, or select try ubuntu menu if possible.

see if helps boot live desktop without error message.
