The Right Power Supply - Raspberry Pi Forums
hi guys!
time need solve future issue. bought usb hub, d-link dub-h7, fed 5v 3a , provides 0.5a each usb port. ( here's link: http://www.dlink.com/us/en/home-solutio ... sb-2-0-hub )
used power pi 1st 1 port, using fast-charge mode, need hub fed other devices such webcam , external hdds ( in case, 1st 2 ports go in normal mode, 0.5ma ).
connected lot of devices, , suppose it's not enough, connected:
- raspberrypi ( @ least 700ma )
- bv4111 ( relay controller + 8channel relay ) 650ma
- bv4618 + hd47780 ( 3ma )
- 8 pir sensors hc-sr501( datasheet says 50ua each ) ( 2 )
- ds18b20 thermal sensor
- mcp23017 ( it's going arrive )
guess 8channel relay requires lot of ma, rest uses power gpio can handle without problems.. guess..
so, can solution? may supply of these components hub itself?
possible prevent buy 1 supply pi? maybe using have. help

i believe hub answer, might consider powering relay unit separate power supply, ide or sata drives recommend using hub minimum capacity of >3 amperes.
being newbie raspbarian myself, still learning, having been electronics technician on 50 years, can tell current draws in parallel not affect current draw raspberrypi itself.
having said that, wish in endeavors, , happy building , learning. still learning , building myself , past 3/4ths of century mark...
