Thread: No sound on Lucid fresh install

i tried intrepid on computer few years back, , remember sweating on computer days trying sound work, before giving , going windows. figured i'd give second go. 100% fresh install, lucid lynx. hoping maybe new version have fixed whatever having trouble before. no such luck.

have checked nothing muted, in tray icon , in alsamixer , in bunch of others. have made sure i'm in proper groups.

"aplay -l" gives me:

looks hopeful, right?

"find /lib/modules/`uname -r` | grep snd" gives me whole long list of stuff, it's supposed to.

"lspci -v | less" gives me whole bunch of stuff, including:

throw myself on mercy, ubuntu forums! please me.

try this thread. same model sound card yours.
