Thread: How can I Copy from camcorder to PC with firewire
hi guys
how can copy camcorder pc firewire. application can allow me running ubuntu 10.04 , have firewire cable connected between laptop , camcorder.
hi,
use kino , bunch. compatible, captures in dv1/dv2 profiles , other formats well, , comparable packages ms products.
http://www.kinodv.org/
1 small caveat, linux very, picky when comes firewire connections. favor , read little bit of advice on kino page (even if use different capture package) proper permissions 1394 dev have been issue in linux forever...
cheers, how fix firewire capture in ubuntu 10.04 (lucid)
( 26.05.2010 22:36 )
in terminal, enter 'gksu gedit /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-firewire.conf'.
uncomment (remove #-character @ beginning of line) ohci1394, sbp2, dv1394, raw1394, , video1394. then, comment (add #-character beginning of line) out firewire-ohci , firewire-sbp2 lines. save , quit gedit.
next, run 'sudo update-initramfs -k -u' , reboot.
now, when plugin camcorder, should have permission default (unlike in past). vote become default indicating bug affects you.
