attaching Flash's UIScrollbar component to a movie clip

i'm attempting attach flash's uiscrollbar component movie clip can scroll graphics, pdf links , series of flv files. know how attach scrollbar dynamic text field (drag , drop) , have tried similar processes mc no luck. feel it's not simple "drag , drop" , mc needs have it's x , y's defined , have script associated (note i'm using as3) i'm lost. suggestions?

you can assign scrolltarget movieclip shouldn't work and, if movieclip created actionscript, should cause compiler error message.
